How to make Tripwire Hook
In order to make this key item, here are a few items you’ll need:
- 1 iron ingot
- 1 stick
- 1 wood plank
1) Get Iron Ingot
It is possible to get an iron ingot from zombies or iron golems who can sometimes drop it. If you want to craft it yourself, you can use either Iron nuggets (x9), raw iron (x1), or a block of iron (x1).
If you have nine iron nuggets, you can add them to every cell in the 3×3 crafting grid to get a single iron ingot. Alternatively, if you have a block of iron, add it to the top-left cell and nine iron ingots will appear.
Finally, if you have raw iron, you will need a furnace and fuel like coal to get your iron ingot. Add coal to the bottom cell of the furnace, then place the raw iron in the top cell of the furnace. The coal should burn and smelt the raw iron into an iron ingot.
2) Get a stick
Sticks are important for way too many things in Minecraft, and you’ll be right to keep a stockpile of them. Wood planks can be turned into sticks, and to get four sticks, you need two planks.
The easiest way to get sticks would be to search decayed leaf blocks. If a tree has been cut down, the leaf blocks that remain will decay and turn into sticks. You can break leaf blocks up by punching them with your hand to get sticks.
You can also find sticks when you fish, but the chances of this are low. Another way is to fight witches. When you defeat a witch, there’s a small chance they’ll drop two sticks when they die.

You’ll need to add these to a crafting area with a 3×3 crafting grid. Note that you can use wood plank from any type of tree, including birch, oak, spruce, acacia, dark oak, and others.
In the 3×3 crafting area, place the iron ingot in the top center cell, then place the stick in the middle center cell. Finally, place the wood plank in the bottom center cell. This will automatically craft the tripwire hooks, which you can move to your inventory.
How to make A Wooden Plank
To get a wooden plank, you’ll need logs. You’ll often find oak logs generated across the game, especially as outposts and watchtowers. If you are playing in survival mode and need to get the wood yourself, you need to find a suitable tree to get logs.
Here are the steps to get logs from a tree:
1) Find an oak tree in a forest.
There are also other areas where you will come across oak trees. Hold an ax, preferably a diamond ax, because it works fastest. If you don’t have an ax, you can also use your hand. It will just take more time.
2) Chop the tree trunk up with your ax
Keep in mind that the falling logs can disappear.
Ensure you pick the oak logs up before you don’t see them again, and add them to your inventory.
With the oak logs, you can now craft oak planks. So you’ll need to add these logs to your 3×3 crafting grid.
