Obtaining Podzol is very simple: you can choose get it from nature in survival mode, so follow the first option. If you are in creative mode, go directly to the second option.
OPTION ONE: GET PODZOL FROM NATURE IN SURVIVAL MODE
- Find a Podzol Block
Podzol isn’t craftable, so you have to find it in the Old Growth Pine Taiga biome.
- Use a Silk Touch Tool
To mine Podzol you need a Silk Touch Tool like a pickaxe, shovel, or axe:

To mine the terrain you have to use different commands depending on what version of Minecraft you are using:
- Java Edition: left click and hold on the block of podzol.
- Pocket Edition: you tap and hold on the block of podzol.
- Xbox 360 and Xbox One: press and hold the RT button on the Xbox controller.
- PS3 and PS4: press and hold the R2 button on the PS controller.
- Wii U/Nintendo Switch: press and hold the ZR button on the gamepad/controller
- Windows 10 Edition/ Education Edition, left click and hold on the block of podzol.
- Pick up the Podzol:
To pick up the podzol simply walk on it! You will see a block of podzol in your hotbar!
